This is the perfect quilt to use up those 2.5" strips you've been collecting...or a good excuse to buy a new jelly roll! It is also very scrap friendly if you have a stash of "leftovers" from other quilts.
Extra Credit is an easy to follow quilt pattern that is perfect for beginning quilters. Clear directions, with diagrams, help you to make mini log cabin quilt blocks that don't have to end up perfect. The addition of two larger background pieces along two sizes will give you some "wiggle room" when you cut your finished square. No worries if your block is wonky...in fact, that will add more character to your quilt!
I named it Extra Credit because I'm a math teacher who enjoys relaxing with some mindless sewing and I'm not afraid of small pieces. This toddler size quilt has nearly 900 pieces! If that isn't Extra Credit, I don't know what is.... ;-)
I have included optional sizes for a smaller crib quilt, a lap quilt and a twin size. Because you cut the strip in half, your unfinished logs are only 1.25" wide and they will finish at 3/4" wide. Perfection isn't necessary, but patience is.
This quilt will be the hit of any baby shower and, because it looks more complicated than it is, you can rest assured that it will be treasured by the recipient. Enjoy!
