This pattern makes 5 double sided placemats.
Why 5 placemats? Why not! I couldn't believe how much fabric was in a layer cake/package of 10 inch squares and challenged myself to see what I could make with one. I was able to make 5 placemats - front AND back - with 5 squares leftover! Use the 5th placemat as a runner or put it on a side table. Maybe you have a messy eater whose placemat needs changed out more frequently? (I do!)

I quilt for the joy it brings (because I am a JOYful girl!) Thanks to Ani diFranco for giving me this beautiful motto to create by. I make most of my patterns using my stash - which is limited and full of colourful prints! I am obsessed with designing ways to use up selvages - especially collections of selvages from fabrics used in a single project. Sadie Paisley (the mini stitched Joyful me in the pic) has a "thang" for placemats; it is her raison d'etre to create placemat patterns for me. For any occasion, with whatever fabric I have on hand. She likes a challenge and a set for four:) Personally my default creation is pillow covers with a few quilts in there for good measure (can I be a quilter if I don't make quilts?!) We love sharing our happy quilty things and hope you enjoy making them. Love Leads. Grace Dances. Life Heals. Sew Joy!View all patterns by designer (10) »
