Skill Level:

small skill level requirement Beginner

Basic Skills Necessary:

  • An advanced beginner quilt, leaning towards the intermediate quilter.
  • The ability to accurately sew a 1/4" seam allowance and accurate cutting so that the puzzle-like design will fit together correctly
  • You should be very comfortable making triangle units.
  • Step-by-step photo instructions for each lesson and tips along the way will be provided.
  • There are no y-seams or partial seams.

Pattern Description:

Delightful Stars is an extra large, queen-sized quilt containing 25 unique traditionally pieced and paper pieced blocks. I will be teaching how to make this gorgeous quilt online in 2014.

* Finished size is an over-sized queen (92" x 108").
* Twenty-five (25) unique star-themed blocks in various sizes.
* Seven (7) unique blocks are paper pieced, the rest are pieced.
* Five (5) borders surround the centre top. You can easily eliminate borders or add additional borders as needed to fit your requirements.
* Unique, puzzle-like design, requiring accuracy throughout, so that all of the pieces fit together at the end.

By joining the quilt-along, you will receive detailed photo tutorials for completing the entire quilt top and instructions for quilting on your domestic machine.

At the end of the quilt-along, you will have a comprehensive Booklet containing all weekly lessons.

Refer to the linked page for further details and come join the fun. We're chatting and sharing in our Facebook group too.

Tools listed are recommended but not necessarily required to complete the quilt.

Sizing / Finished Measurements:

  • 92" x 108"

  • 6.5 yards contrast, i.e. background
  • 30-40 fat quarters (7 to 10 yards) - you need a wide variety, there will be leftovers that can be pieced into the back
  • Approximately 8 yards backing (I would suggest waiting to purchase if you want to piece the backing with leftover fabrics from the front).
  • One yard binding

You Will Also Need:

  • Easy Star & Geese Ruler
  • Specialty paper for paper piecing
  • Add a Quarter Ruler
  • General quilting supplies (i.e. rotary cutter, mat, sewing machine, etc.)
