This quilt pattern is based on a block design that has been around for years. It is variously called "Dogs Tooth," Streak o' Lightening," "Zigzag," and "Lightening Strips." The book Quilters Bible by Celia Eddy has a pattern for this block and notes that can be strip pieced. The design on the Clotilde website shows a masterful use of color but the block design is not original.

As most any quilter will tell you, there is nothing new under the sun. Only new ways to put it together. If someone likes the way this one looks, they can buy it here. If they like it somewhere else, they can buy it there. I don't see why it matters how many different versions of the design there are. What does matter, however, is the correct spelling of the word "lightning". Lightning is a streak of electricity in the sky. "Lightening" is the act of making something less dark. The reason this matters is that one is a noun and one is a verb.
Nitpicking is a two way street.
