Make this colorful quilt yourself, choosing your favorite colors to make a striking, graphic impact. This quilt is a nice crib size, approximately 48 x 54 inches, but is easily adaptable to other sizes by adding or subtracting blocks. I include fabric requirements for crib, throw, twin, queen, and king sizes. The colorful "slices" are also perfect for your using up fabric from your scrap basket.
This quilt is completely pieced (not appliqued), and is for any quilter that has some experience with precise cutting and seam allowances. It is actually a fairly quick and easy quilt to sew, but because of the curves, it might not be the best introduction to quilting for a beginner. If you are new to curves, though, this is a great introduction.
This pattern is 21 pages, and is packed full of color illustrations and very clear instructions. It is formatted to letter-sized paper for easy printing. I walk you through fabric quantities, cutting, piecing, and assembling the quilt top. I also give general instructions on basting, advice on quilting, and full binding instructions. I included a few alternative layouts as well. There are full-sized templates for all of the pieces. The best part is the coloring sheet where you can play with different color combinations.
For those who are feeling slightly adventurous, I also tell you how to dye your own fabric, and include the exact "recipes" for the colors I used in my version of the quilt. Dyeing your own fabric is relatively easy to do, and once you try it, you will be hooked!
This is an original pattern, designed and created by me. It is for personal, non-commercial use only.

I like patterned fabric, but I love solids. I took a fabric dyeing class a few years ago and ever since have dyed most of the fabric that I sew. The depth of color, texture, and color blending of hand-dyed fabric is unmatched by anything you can buy at the store. Working with so many solids also means that the pattern of the quilt itself is the star of the show.
