I love to make placemat patterns - I literally dream up a new one (or two!) everyday! This one evolved when I noticed that lots of quilters are looking for ways to use up their charm collections. So, I started playing with mine and came up with this one!
This pattern is made a little sweeter because of the ric rac, but you don't have to use any! Also you'll notice the charm pack I used, Winter Wonderland by Bunny Hill, is all reds and whites. Never fear, I included some tips in the pattern on ways to sort and decide on using the fabrics in a charm pack to best spread the joyful colours and patterns around.:)

I quilt for the joy it brings (because I am a JOYful girl!) Thanks to Ani diFranco for giving me this beautiful motto to create by. I make most of my patterns using my stash - which is limited and full of colourful prints! I am obsessed with designing ways to use up selvages - especially collections of selvages from fabrics used in a single project. Sadie Paisley (the mini stitched Joyful me in the pic) has a "thang" for placemats; it is her raison d'etre to create placemat patterns for me. For any occasion, with whatever fabric I have on hand. She likes a challenge and a set for four:) Personally my default creation is pillow covers with a few quilts in there for good measure (can I be a quilter if I don't make quilts?!) We love sharing our happy quilty things and hope you enjoy making them. Love Leads. Grace Dances. Life Heals. Sew Joy!View all patterns by designer (10) »
