Cathedral Window Sampler

Basic Skills Necessary:

  • Basic Rotary Cutting Skills
  • Basic Machine Piecing Skills

Pattern Description:

This wall or table piece is the perfect primer for the Machine Stitched Cathedral Window technique developed in 1998 by Shelley Swanland. This approach is completely different from the Traditional Cathedral Window technique. it uses three dimensional piecing similar to the 3D Bow Tie Block and is constructed and quilted completely by machine.

In this piece you will construct the basic elements used, 3D Flying Geese, 3D Squares and the X and O blocks. Once you are comfortable with the smaller elements you will move on to the larger section, the Cathedral Window.
