Pattern Description:

Wake up to these lively chickens! They are so silly, you have to laugh. They will brighten even a gloomy day. This pattern, comes together quickly. It has a small amount of applique, the sun needs to be applied over the rays and that can be done on the machine or by hand or even fused.

Sizing / Finished Measurements:

  • 20"x51" Wall hanging


  • 5?8 yard Background print-gray, very light, white on white or muslin
  • 1?4 yard each of at least four dark to medium fabrics for the Body and Wings, the cover quilt has six.
  • 1?4 yard of red fabric for the Comb
  • 1?4 yard of yellow fabric for the Beaks and Feet
  • 1?8-1?4 yard or scraps each of five different yellow fabrics for the sun and rays, approximate sizes are given in the pattern
  • 1?2 yard dark print fabric for the Border
  • 1/4 yard dark print fabric for the Binding
  • 1 yard each Backing and your choice of Batting
  • Rotary cutter, mat and acrylic ruler
  • 1?4 yard of Heat 'n'Bond(r) Lite or other similar bonding material
  • Small amount of Reynolds Wrap(tm)Freezer Paper

You Will Also Need:

  • Eight 3/8" round or 1/2" star buttons
  • Off white or gray thread
  • Brown or black thread
  • Sharp needles for sewing on buttons and optional hand applique
  • Optional DMC #8 Pearl Cotton
  • Sewing Machine and Basic Sewing Supplies
