I love all the bright colors and fresh clean white sets each square off. I would love to make it, and can figure the size of the center and the side pieces, but don't know how to put the square together. Where do you start? Can you make simple instructions on the sewing of the square? Thanks.

I gave cutting measurements for this block if you downloaded this pdf, so you wouldn't need to figure out the cutting sizes unless you want to make the block larger.

To sew the block, you line up a rectangle on top of the square with corners matching. For the first one only, you sew a partial seam as I explained in the pdf. This means sew only about half way down on the square piece. Finger press the seam. Then starting with the next rectangle, place it on top of partially sewn rectangle where you have sewn already and that rectangle will line up all the way to the end of the square and you sew as you normally would. You will be sewing around the square center as you would sew around a log cabin block for all the remaing rectangles. Then at the very end you complete sewing the partial seam because now the rectangle fits on top as you have sewn the other rectangle in place. This will make sense once you try sewing a block. Give one a try. If you need more help contact me at:
