Basic Skills Necessary:

  • Basic quilting skills, fusible web applique

Pattern Description:

Last week my apple tree was in bloom and a Baltimore oriole became a frequent visitor. Then I saw our resident bluebird sitting among the blossoms as well. The birds in the tree made such a sweet and peaceful scene that I translated it into a mug rug. I've added a photo of the oriole, but you'll have to look very hard to see it.

Mug rugs are not only just the right size for a drink and small snack, but they will also add a bright splash of color to a coffee table or desktop.

The pattern contains three pages of instructions plus full size templates for the applique pieces. A full size layout plan is also included.

If you have any questions or comments, please send an email to me at You are also welcome to check out my facebook page at

I would love to see photos of your completed work in the completed projects section of this pattern page.

I try to write my patterns in such a way that beginning quilters can ...
