Pattern Description:

There is a chill in the air and this lap quilt is just what you need to stay warm. It has two layers of dark navy blue flannel and a top layer of a beautiful winter print. There is no heavy batting layer so the quilt is warm but not thick. This is a perfect holiday quilt to throw over a chair or give as a gift.

This lap quilt is a wholecloth quilt, which means that you cut the front, back and batting all the same size as the finished quilt. The evergreen is applied using reverse applique where the shape is outlined in thread and then the inside cut away to reveal the fabric underneath. The applique is designed to fray to the stitches, giving a textured, unaffected look to the quilt. The applique and the quilting are done at the same time. There is no binding; the edges are finished by sewing all around and then clipping the edges to fray.
