I have a sewing and alterations business in my home. When I'm not busy with that, I enjoy making other useful items like quilts. I also make most of my clothing. I have entered my creations in the Ozark Empire Fair for several years and have received many ribbons for my work.View all patterns by designer (2) »
This is an original quilt block that forms an 'S' design that reverses and repeats across this happy, scrappy crib quilt. It would be perfect for a new baby or anyone whose name begins with 'S'.
I came up with this pattern accidentally in 2009. When I was playing around with some strip-pieced triangles, the 'S' design appeared. Then I did something a little differently (it took me a little while to figure out what I did) with one of the blocks and the 'S' was reversed. I called that quilt "Twissted."
My most recent version is called "Baby Sister" because I shrank the blocks to make a baby quilt for my newest granddaughter. It is also a good size for a picnic blanket.
Start with a colorful fabric that you love and it will help you pick colors that will look beautiful together in this happy, scrappy crib quilt. The remnant bin is a great place to look for fabric for this quilt, because you don't need much of any one piece.
