Pattern Description:

This Baby Bird quilt is so fast and easy to make, you'll want a whole nest of them for all your sweet little girls! The blocks are quilted at the same time the appliques are sewn so when the quilt top is sewn the whole quilt is done except for the binding and clipping. Flannel fabric makes this rag quilt so soft and cuddly and four happy baby birds decorate the front of this large crib or throw-size rag quilt.

Sizing / Finished Measurements:

  • 58x58 inches


  • sewing machine
  • scissors, rotary cutter and mat
  • thread
  • darning foot for sewing machine
  • 2 yards (1.8m) each of 2 print pastel cotton flannel for the front and back of 5 squares
  • 1and1/4 of a yard (114cm) of yellow pastel cotton flannel solid for the front and back of one square and the quilt binding.
  • 3/4 yard each of green, blue and pink pastel cotton flannel solid for the front and back of 3 squares.
  • Assorted small pieces for the appliques
  • White cotton batting for 4 -20x20 inch (51cmx51cm) squares, and 5- 21x21 inch squares (53x53cm) the batting should be able to space 10 inches (25cm) between stitching.
