Basic Skills Necessary:

  • raw-edge applique also known as quick fuse applique

Pattern Description:

Create a named mug rug quickly and easily using quick-fuse applique and the templates provided in this pattern. The Patchsmith's alphabet includes a full set of upper-case, lower-case and mug rug letters. That is a total of 78 letters all for $1.99 - what a bargain!

You can fit three upper-case letters, or one upper-case and up to four mug rug letters, onto a 9" x 5" mug rug. The full-size applique sheets also include a star and three hearts for you to use. These letters are perfectly sized for you to add your initials to the back of a quilt or a name to the front. Each upper-case letter will also fit within a 4" block.

Of course you don't have to stick to names - you could create a holiday mug rug with 'USA' in red, white and blue stripes or 'JOY' in red and green Christmas prints. Leave the letters plain or embellish the letters with ribbon, buttons or embroidery. Whichever way you choose to use these alphabets, one thing is certain - this is one pattern that you will return to time-and-time again.

These letters are for personal use only but permission is granted to use them on items you make to sell provided the item is handmade by you. No reproduction or mass production is allowed.

I believe a pattern should be easy to follow, with clear diagrams and full-size templates. Value is also very important to me - both in terms of fabric wastage and to the buyer. Patchwork is about sharing and that is why all my patterns are priced for everybody ...
