Alphabet Quilt

Basic Skills Necessary:

  • Sew a 1/4-inch seam, hand or machine blanket stitch or zigzag stitch, basic quilting

Pattern Description:

Make this Alphabet Quilt and use up your scraps. Or choose a color theme. You can choose to make this quilt as shown or use the letters and create any words you want. Make a name quilt for your child, grandchild, yourself, etc. Anything you can spell you can create a unique quilt using these letters and the fun twist & turn look. See the name on my blog (Patchouli Moon Studio); I made a quilt for my sewing studio and my blog using this pattern.

Sizing / Finished Measurements:

  • Approx. 41.75" x 49.75" (can be larger if border size is increased)


  • A variety of scraps of various colors, 5/8 yard for letters, 1 2/3 yd. for border, 1 1/2 yds. of fusible web, 7/8 yd. for letter background, 1 2/3 yard for border, 1 2/3 yd. for backing, 1/2 yd. for binding, 45 x 60 package batting

You Will Also Need:

  • sewing thread, machine embroidery thread or hand embroidery floss, embroidery needle, pins, iron, sewing machine
  • ruler, rotary cutter and cutting mat
