Basic Skills Necessary:

  • Applique, foundation piece, simple embroidery, piece

Pattern Description:

I love the bright colors in this and the repeating fishes all swimming in the same direction. The wheels add movement and whimsy.
Not sure where my inspiration came from, maybe from looking at my husband's scuba diving pictures!


  • 1 1/4 yards for the border and binding
  • 2: 1/2 yard pieces of coordinating fabric for the backgrounds and wheels of the spokes
  • 1/2 yard for inner border, spokes, wheel centers and fish eyes
  • 1/2 yard for fish bodies
  • Fat quarters: 2 or 3 different ones for fins, head, tail and spokes of the wheels
  • 1 1/2 yards for the backing (use it sideways) and sleeve if desired
  • 47" X 35" piece of batting

You Will Also Need:

  • Foundation paper
  • All the normal sewing/quilting supplies
  • Sashiko or embroidery thread
