You should already know how to use a sewing machine and some of the fancier stitches. Preferable, you would also have knowledge of fusible applique and cutting out fabrics using rotary cutting tools. If not, you can still learn by referring to quilting books that teach these methods.

Pattern Description:

Inspiration came from thinking of how delightful it is to view everyone's festive decorations when taking that drive through the neighborhood at Christmas time. The design depicts a view of a tree decorated up when looking through a window.

Decorate your home with this Christmas tree quilt! Perhaps, you need a festive quilt to hang on your wall. It certainly will be easy to take care of. If you like embellishing a quilt this may be the next one to make. Use my fabric choices as your guide and have fun with this project.

The appliqued ribbons are stitched with a satin-stitch or zigzag stitch using gold metallic thread to make them sparkle. And the tree is decorated with fancy buttons for ornaments, a fabric star, and baby rick-rack for garland.

This PDF pattern has colored illustrations, clear instructions, and full-size templates for the applique pieces that have already been reversed for the fusible applique process.

Sizing / Finished Measurements:

Christmas quilt - finished size: 25" x 30"

Materials:

Red - 1/2 yd. (0.50 m) [or... 2 fat quarters]
Christmas (print) - 1/4 yd. (0.30 m) [or... 1/2 yd. (0.50 m) to include binding]
Tan (print) - 15" x 20" piece [or... 1 fat quarter]
Green - 10" x 15" piece [or... 1 fat quarter]
Tan - 1/2 yd. (0.50 m)
Black - 4" (0.10 m)
Scrap Pieces - Brown (tree truck); Yellow (star)
Batting and backing fabric

You Will Also Need:

Fusible web - 5/8 yd. (0.60 m) (I like using Lite Steam-A-Seam 2)
Stabilizer or fusible interfacing - 1/2 yd. (0.50 m) [If using a lightweight fabric, this helps in the appliqueing process.]
Sewing thread - colors of your choice [I used metallic gold and black]
Baby Rick Rack - 24" (0.60 m) or 1 pkg.
Black 1/4" Fusible Bias Tape - 2 yd. (2 m) [or... make your own]
9 Buttons - 1/2" wide (13 mm)
Rotary cutter, ruler, and cutting mat
