Pattern Description:
Clean lines, simple design. This stunning bed-size quilt is constructed using easy-to-make half-square triangle blocks (no "Y" seams!), and features a center star medallion. Mitered Border instructions and Binding Lesson included in pattern. Made for my carpenter husband by myself and our triplet daughters. He loves the colors, the design, the fact that it is called a Carpenter's Star, but mostly he loves that it was made just for him by all four of his girls!
Sizing / Finished Measurements:
- 88" x 88" Comfortor. Size may be adjusted by increasing/decreasing borders
Materials:
- Focus Fabric (A) - Star points, outer border 3-1/4 yard
- Coordinating Print (B) - Star points 1-1/2 yard
- Light/Background (C) 2 yards
- Inner Border (D) (can be same as B) 5/8 yard
- Backing 5-1/2 yards
- Binding 3/4 yard
You Will Also Need:
- Batting at least 90" x 90"
- Helpful tool: Quilt in a Day's 9-1/2" Triangle Square-Up Ruler

In 2004, I fell in love with and purchased the fabric used in this quilt, without a clue as to how I would be using it - I just figured, "meh - I will figure out what to make soon enough." Eight years later, I stumbled across this pattern and there was no doubt that THIS was the one!
The mitred borders are essential - I struggled a bit as it was a new technique, but I'm glad I didn't give into my self doubt and opt for a regular border. The piecing was simple and the quilt itself ...
