I am a published sewing and quilting author with several books and many magazine articles to my credit. My most recent book, How to Make a Quilt was published in August 2014 by Storey Publishing. I've written two other successful books for them-- The Quilting Answer Book and The Sewing Answer Book. I learned to sew from my great grandmother, two grandmothers, and my Mom when I was barely in grade school and I've been sewing ever since. I added quilting to my repertoire in the 1980s and worked for a major quilt book publisher as Managing Editor and then Editor-in-Chief for 5 years. Now I have my own business, designing quilts and tote bags and anything else that strikes my fancy. Go to www.joyofsewingandquilting.blogspot.com to see my projects and whatever else I'm up to. Thanks for stopping by and I hope you find something you'd like to make in my Craftsy store!
The Magic Tuck Market Tote is a stitch-and-flip, lined-and-quilted, stand-up, fold-flat tote bag!
This tote has a special tuck in the bottom that makes it easy to pack flat in your suitcase or to open out and fill to capacity on shopping trips. It features a zipped inside pocket for security, along with one to hold your glasses or cell phone and outside pocket, too.
Use the easy stitch-and-flip method with strips of your favorite fabrics and the tote is quilted as you assemble it. Or, make it in already-quilted double layer fabric, or in canvas with embellished outer pockets. Directions are included for making the embellished canvas version as shown in the alternate photos (embroidery designs are not included in the pattern).
Directions for the mini version are also included. Make one for your favorite little girl or use it for your paperback book!
