I've always loved working with my hands and expressing myself through the visual arts. When my children were young I was inspired to create art/crafting projects that we could do together. One memorable project was making paper-cut snowflakes. At that same time I had discovered Chrismons, "CHRISt-MONograms," or symbols of faith. Through trial and error of folding and cutting the paper, I developed "Chrismon Snowflake Ornaments." In addition to paper crafts, I work in various other mediums such as copper folded jewelry, digital photo painting, collage, and mosaics. I also write Bible curriculum for teachers of children; of course these include many fun crafting projects too!
While making paper cut snowflakes with my children one Christmas, I wanted my designs to reflect the spiritual nature of the season. By trial and error I incorporated Chrismon designs (Christ-Monograms) into each snowflake, resulting in Chrismon Snowflake Ornaments. The special way they are folded and cut gives them their three dimensional quality. Chrismon Snowflakes are reminiscent of German and Swiss Scherenschnitte, (the religious art/craft of intricate paper cutting). Relive the nostalgic fun of making paper snowflakes! You're sure to have fun making my unique ornaments of faith! Watch a video too at:
