You have died of dysentery. Oregon Trail

Basic Skills Necessary:

  • You should be able to cross stitch the basic stitch. No half or back stitches in this one.

Pattern Description:

I wanted to do something geeky and simple to get a sense of completion in between working on a larger project. I found this picture on the web and it stole my heart. It has everything, an awkwardly shaped oxen, flat wheels, and random blocks that don't seem to be there for any good reason. How can he reach Oregon with his feet connected like that? I have yet to reach Oregon in the game, but that will come with time. Someone always seems to break a leg...

I am most of the way done this project and will have a real picture (with the oxen 3 stitches too short... oops) very soon!

Sizing / Finished Measurements:

  • The pattern is 109x47 stitches, and on a 14 count cloth and a 4 inch border, the fabric should be about 12x8 inches.

  • I used 3 threads to stitch with since 14 count fabric is large. I wanted a blocky look, but if you don't you could use 16 or 18 count instead.
  • I did this project on black cloth and with lime green thread (#906) to simulate an old computer screen

You Will Also Need:

  • I did all the stitches in the same direction because of the large solid areas.
