Pattern Description:

Locker hooking is an old "rug hooking technique". It is not latch hook but different in that you use a locker hook (crochet hook with a large needle 'eye' at other end), fabric strips, yarn, and latch hook rug canvas. It's a unique craft, in that the yarn is inside the fabric loops which "lock the loops in place"! Locker hooking is really easy, quick, portable, and a lot of FUN! There's tons of things you can make!

In 1999, I wrote the first locker hooking book on locker hooking with fabric, entitled, "Locker Hooking With Fabric Strips". This second book is an 18-page locker hooking instructional booklet (5.5"x8.5") which is specifically for the beginner. Follow my hands as we make a small mug rug for hot beverages while learning the "basics" of locker hooking! Available as an ebooklet, paper, and in the Beginning Locker Hooking Kits.

Once you know the "basics" of locker hooking, you will be ready to create your own beautiful rugs, baskets, wall hangings, clothing, blankets, pillows, bags, and many more home decor and personal accessories! Have fun experimenting with all sorts of fabrics and materials...new and recycled remnants!
