Basic Skills Necessary:

  • knit, purl, cast on and off, sew seams, knit loops

Pattern Description:

This hedgehog would make a cute toy, or you could add some weight (for example a bag of gravel) inside the stuffing to make a hedgehog doorstop.

This 4 page knitting pattern includes row by row instructions, a list of abbreviations, photographs and construction details to make the hedgehog. The hedgehog head and body are knitted in one piece, and the body is made by knitting loops and snipping through each loop to make the strands for the spikes. The pattern includes instructions on how to knit a loop.

Pattern notes...The pattern is worked flat (back and forth) on straight 4,5mm needles. The pattern is written in English The hedgehog is knitted in aran yarn (less than 50g of each colour is needed).

Sizing / Finished Measurements:

  • The hedgehog is 12cm tall and 15cm long


  • 4.5mm needles
  • aran weight yarn in brown and beige

  • Toy filling, beads for eyes, darning needle to sew together
