Basic Skills Necessary:

  • knit, purl, increase (M1 knit and purl), decrease (k/p2tog, ssk/p), 2 types of cast off (info given)


20 sts, 27 rows to 10 cm (4 ") in stocking stitch on 4 mm (US 6) needles, using 8 ply/DK yarn

Sizing / Finished Measurements:

  • Height to top of ears Kangaroo mother: 40 cms, (16") Baby Joey: 17 cms (7")


  • main colour (grey, fawn, reddish brown) 8 ply/DK yarn x 85 - 100 gms (= 70 -75 gms kangaroo mother, 15- 20 gms joey) contrast colour (pale pink) 8 ply/DK yarn x 5 gms for ears small amount of black 8 ply/DK for noses
  • 1 pair 4 mm (US 6) needles

You Will Also Need:

  • 1 pair 24 mm "eyelash" safety eyes or 20 mm "joggle" sew on eyes for kangaroo; 10 mm eyes for joey (note: sew-on eyes are not safe for children under 3 yrs)
  • dacron toy !lling
