Pattern Description:

Make her as a white Friesian with black "spots", as an orange Jersey cow, or any colour you fancy...

No need to work the spots as intarsia - just add them later with duplicate stitch.


15 sts, 23 rows to 10 cm, (in stocking st) on 5 mm (US 8) needles using 8 ply /DK double (2 strands together)
Tension is not crucial, this being a toy.

Sizing / Finished Measurements:

  • 21 cms long and tall.


  • 8 ply/DK yarn, 100 gms in main colour
  • 8 ply/DK yarn, 25 gms black for feet (and "spots" if your cow is a Friesian)
  • 8 ply/DK yarn, 15 gms pale pink for udder and nose
  • 8 ply/DK yarn, 5 gms pale grey for horns

You Will Also Need:

  • 1 pair 5 mm (US 8) needles
  • dacron toy filling
  • 1 pair 18 - 25 mm "joggle" toy eyes(not safe for children 3 years or younger), or similar size safety eyes with clip on backs
