Basic Skills Necessary:

  • Knit, Purl, Increase by M1, Decrease by K2tog and a Central Double Decrease , Knitting with 3 yarns across the same row.

Pattern Description:

Roary is knitted as a top down with the head front legs and body knitted in one flat piece, the back legs, ears and tail are knitted separately. I was after a realistic looking Lion.
I hope that you will enjoy knitting him as much as I enjoyed designing him.


Not important, just ensure that your knitting weave is tight enough so that the toy filling does not show.

Sizing / Finished Measurements:

  • 12 inches


  • 3.75mm Staight and Circular needles, 4 Stitch Markers, Main Color 80g of Worsted Weight/10ply yarn, Contrast Color 80g of Long Eyelash yarn, 2x12mm Safety Eyes, 1x18mm Safety Nose, Small amount of Black DK/8ply yarn for mouth and claw embroidery, Toy Fibre Filling.

You Will Also Need:

  • Small gauge DPN needles or large stitch holder to secure back legs when stitching to the body.
