Basic Skills Necessary:
- Any adventurous beginner knitter will be able to easily follow this pattern! No circular needles needed as it is knit flat and seamed up later. Great way to practice your mattress stitch! To make it more newbie friendly, I adjusted my original knitting in the round pattern, to knitted flat!
- If you are new to the mattress stitch, YouTube has a GREAT video selection to learn from!
Pattern Description:
This stuffed elephant is soft, squishy, sweet and looking for a child to love! The big floppy ears and foot pads will be so special with the addition of your fabric choice! Coordinate it with a blanket and make it truly one of a kind!
For baby or toddler in the bed, crib, stroller, car or just for play!
Great one of a kind shower gift, birthday present or for any special child in your life!
Any worsted weight (4) acrylic yarn will work for easy care and washing! Holding up to lots of hugs and kisses!
Make him or her as firm or squishy as you like!

Gauge:
4 stitches to one inch. Gauge is not really necessary for a toy! You do want to knit fairly tight as you do not want the fiberfil to show through!
Sizing / Finished Measurements:
- He measures 15" from tip of tail to trunk by 10" from top of back to bottom of feet
Materials:
- US size 7 knitting needles straight or circular. You will be working back and forth as on straight needles
- 2 US size 7 double pointed needles
- Tapestry needle
- Fiberfil
- fabric scraps of your choice
- 1/4 yard or less Interfacing (optional) I urge you to purchase it and follow the directions for it as it really makes the fabric look great and easy to hand sew as it gives the fabric a little stiffness
- sewing needle and thread or embroidery floss to match fabric or yarn
- 1 skein worsted weight yarn medium weight (4) picture is Red Heart (364 yards)

About the Designer
I was taught to knit by my mother in my teens in the '70's and I quickly went from that to cross stitch and then needlepoint.
Life goes on to a full time job, marriage, a child and then in early in 2004, I was forced to stay off my feet. I pick up the needles and started with knitting a scarf and then another, and then another! Next thing I know, I have 50 of them!
Off to a local ...

Off to a local art gallery I go to peddle my wares! They loved and sold them all! Creative Design was born! Three upscale children's boutiques and women's wear shops later, here I am! Fingers flyin' with an Etsy shop sheilalikestoknit and lovin' Craftsy!
I can most often be found in "my chair" surrounded by a pile of yarn, fabric, more yarn, needles, another pile of yarn, patterns, more fabric...etc! We love to travel, eat good food, be with family and great friends!
Knitwear: my handmade knitwear is lovingly created by me! The process of choosing great fabric and yarn colors is half the fun! Knitting it all up and seeing it come together is wonderful and the final moment of seeing this creation around someones neck, on a little body, noggin or in their stroller is the BEST! I have been lucky enough to receive wonderful photos and I keep them ALL!
