Basic Skills Necessary:

  • cast on/off
  • knit/purl
  • Decrease by purling 2 together
  • Increase by knitting into the same stitch twice, front and back

Pattern Description:

This pattern includes two pandas, large and small. There are two eye patch options, one knitted in using two colours at one time and the other is to knit the eye patches separately and sew them one once the head is stuffed.

Please note that the yarn amounts I have give are for the large panda.

For the small panda you will need:

50 grams/75 meters / 82 yards White eyelash (Yarn A)
100 grams/150 meters/164 yards Black eyelash (Yarn B)
25 grams/40 meters/40 yards Black Aran/Worsted (Yarn C) (Paw pads)
25 grams/40 meters/40 yards White Aran/Worsted (Yarn D) (Muzzle)

Toy filler
14mm safety eyes
14 mm safety nose

The pandas are knitted flat using straight knitting needles and assembled.

Please take care printing this pattern as it includes a step by step guide to help you to assemble your pandas, it may be a good idea to print knitting instructions and save the making up guide to refer to as and when necessary.



Sizing / Finished Measurements:

  • Large panda sits at 12 inches/30cms
  • Small panda sits at 7 inches/18cms


  • 100grams/150 meters/170 yards White eyelash yarn (yarn A)
  • 150grams/225 meters/246 Black eyelash yarn (yarn B)
  • 25 grams/75 meters/82 yards Black Worsted/Aran (yarn C) (Paw pads)
  • 25 grams/75 meters/82 yards White Worsted/Aran (yarn D) (Muzzle)
  • 3.5mm/4US straight knitting needs
  • Yarn sewing needle

You Will Also Need:

  • Toy filler
  • 16mm safety eyes
  • 19 mm safety nose

Suggested yarn:

450 yards of Worsted weight
