Basic Skills Necessary:

  • For small monkey: Casting on
  • For small monkey: the Knit stitch
  • For small monkey: Binding off
  • For small monkey: Basic sewing skills
  • For large monkey: Casting on
  • For large monkey: the Knit and Purl stitches
  • For large monkey: Binding off
  • For large monkey: Backwards loop increase
  • For large monkey: Knit 2 together decrease

Pattern Description:

This pattern download comes with instructions to make 2 monkeys, one large and one small. Written in Simple English with no abbreviations, these monkeys make adorable gifts or decorations. Although this pattern isn't written to teach you how to knit, these patterns are also a great way to improve your knitting skills by mastering the basics. You choose-- just make sure your needle size and yarn combination makes a gauge tight enough to hide the stuffing!

Sizing / Finished Measurements:

  • You Decide!


  • Dark Brown yarn (Color A)-- 100 yards
  • Light Brown yarn (Color B)-- 50 yards
  • Tapestry needle
  • Handful of polyfill stuffing
  • Scissors
  • 2 black beads (for eyes)
  • Size US 9 straight needles
  • For large monkey: Size US 9 double pointed needles
  • Needle and thread (to sew on eyes)
