Basic Skills Necessary:

  • All you need to know are the basics of knitting - how to cast on, fasten off, sew pieces together, weave in loose ends, and the stitches knit, purl and knit/purl 2 together.

Pattern Description:

These tiny roses are quick and easy to make! They are worked flat on 2 double-pointed needles and are perfect for using up those little scraps of leftover yarn from other projects.

The tutorial has many pictures and easy to follow, step-by-step instructions on how to make sweet knitted miniature roses. It's suitable for beginners and all you need to know are the basics of knitting.

* NOTE *

The pattern for Paulo the Charming Tiger includes instructions for how to make these roses, so if you have Paulo's pattern, you shouldn't need this one. This separate tutorial gives more detailed instructions for the roses, including more pictures, so it's better suited for beginners.


22 stitches and 30 rows = 10x10 cm / 4x4" in stockinette stitch

Sizing / Finished Measurements:

  • Following the suggested gauge, the roses end up about 7 cm / 2 3/4" long.


  • 2 double-pointed knitting needles (size 4 mm - US 5-6 - UK 8 recommended)
  • small amounts of yarn in two colours (tutorial assumes green and red)
  • embroidery needle
