When I met my husband he owned a 2CV called Henrietta, and it is this car I have based my design on. You can read a bit more about this on my blog at http://ginxcraft.blogspot.co.uk/2014/03/henrietta-2cv.html
I have tried to be faithful to the original Henrietta. The main body of the car is knitted in three sections, and the pattern contains colour charts for the side panels. Then there are wheels and wheel arches to sew on, as well as the headlamps, bumpers and numberplates. So there is a bit of sewing up, but you will end up with a realistic 2CV car.
The car is knitted in 4ply (I used a mixture of Patons Diploma 4ply and MillaMia Merino for my sample cars). You will need a main shade wool, as well as smaller amounts of black, grey and white. And a tiny amount of yellow for the back numberplate. You will also need two sizes of needles 3.25 mm for the main sections, and 2.25 mm for some of the smaller parts.
I have always liked making things, and although I have been knitting a lot recently, I also like sewing and other crafts.
I live on the outskirts of London, and work part-time at a local school, and have partly got back into making things because my children are always doing something creative. At school I love the days when we get really messy.
