Basic Skills Necessary:

  • Knitting lace
  • Picking up stitches
  • Increasing
  • Decreasing
  • Setting in sleeves

Pattern Description:

Helena is a lace cardigan with set in sleeves and deep ribbing accents at hip, sleeve cuffs and the over-sized collar. It's knit in one piece from the bottom up until the armholes, and the button bands are worked as you go to reduce the need for seaming and finishing at the end.

The lace stitch pattern is provided in both written and charted format to suit your preference.

Gauge:

- 34 sts & 44 rows = 4" in lace stitch pattern, lightly blocked to open out lace.

- 37 sts & 40 rows = 4" in k1, p1 rib, unstretched.

- 34 sts & 40 rows = 4" in Stockinette stitch.

Sizing / Finished Measurements:

  • One size - to fit 18" dolls with an 11" chest circumference, such as American Girl.

Materials:

  • 1 ball of Knit Picks Stroll - 75% superwash merino wool,25% nylon; Fingering weight (231 yards per 50 gram ball).
  • Needles - US 2 (3.00mm) - US 3 (3.25mm) - US 4 (3.50mm) Or sizes required to obtain gauge. Sweater is worked flat, so straight needles can be used if desired, but I prefer working back and forth on a 24" circular needle, as it allows you to try the body of the sweater on as you go.

You Will Also Need:

  • Darning needle for yarn ends
  • 2 stitch markers
  • 6 buttons, 3/8" in size
  • Scrap yarn for holding sts
