Grapefruit Pattern

Basic Skills Necessary:
- The only stitches needed are: knit, slip, make 1, knit two together.
Pattern Description:
Because I couldn't find a pattern that made just the grapefruit I envisioned, I created my own using Amy Szczepanski's method of generating a knitting pattern for any surface of revolution (published in her chapter of Crafting by Concepts).
Gauge:
5 stitches per inch and 6 rows per inch in stockinette stitch
Sizing / Finished Measurements:
- the finished grapefruit is about 5" in diameter.
Materials:
- 40--60 yds of yellow DK weight yarn
- about 8 inches of green DK-or-heavier weight yarn
- size 6 (4mm) needles, either one very long circular for magic loop or a set of double-pointed needles.
- a large handful of polyester fiberfill or other stuffing.
You Will Also Need:
- one stitch marker.
- tapestry needle.
Suggested yarn:
50 yards of DK weight
