This sweater is actually quite easy except for the fact that the stitches are so teeny tiny and any mistakes you may make are a pain to fix. It's really helpful to have a very small crochet hook handy (I know because I just spent the morning crawling around the living room floor looking for my grandmother's hook which is much more minuscule than any I have bought myself - I'll let you know what size it is if I ever find it again). Something even smaller than 2mm would be great.
Use leftover lace weight yarn, OR try Punch embroidery yarn and #10 crochet cotton. These always show up at second hand stores in abundance.
