Pattern Description:

A cuddly knitted Cow who stands on her own four feet and has curved horns. She is made entirely through the power of yarn engineering, there are no wires in those horns or inserts in her legs. This pattern is available individually or as part of the eBook Around the Barnyard which also features the patterns for a pig, sheep, duck, mother hen and baby chick.

For an INTERMEDIATE knitter because the construction uses short row shaping (explained in the pattern), some increasing and decreasing and a little bit of knitting in the round on dpns. Parts of the cow are knitted separately and then sewn on.


6 stitches and 12 rows in garter stitch = 1"

Sizing / Finished Measurements:

  • 7.5" tall


  • Approx 150 yds brown DK weight yarn
  • Approx 10 yds cream DK weight yarn
  • US size 3 (3.25 mm) straight needles (or size needed to obtain gauge)
  • US size 3 (3.25 mm) double pointed needles (or size needed to obtain gauge)
  • Tapestry needle
  • Fiberfill

You Will Also Need:

  • Felt for the eyes
  • embroidery floss to sew on eyes

Suggested yarn:

160 yards of DK weight
