When a client asked me to come up with a party dress for Sofie, her little Toy Yorkie, I designed this snazzy bright red number. Shortly after receiving Sofie's dress, my client emailed me this photo. Is this not CUTE?
The other photo is a dress I made for a Crafts Fair. It's about the same size, but I used a sequin worsted weight acrylic yarn. Sofie's dress was completed with a plain worsted weight acrylic yarn.
The dress is a simple knit for Advanced Beginner/Intermediate knitters. The front and back sections are knitted separately and invisibly seamed together with the mattress stitch (or any stitch you prefer). It has a lovely seed stitch neckline and the body is stockinette stitch, with a double ruffled bottom edge. No sleeves are needed, since this is a fancy sleeveless party dress! Just single crochet an edging around the armholes with a crochet hook size F or G.
Your little Party Girl will look beautiful in her dress too, so give my design a try. I think you'll have a great time knitting this dress!
A BIG THANKS GOES TO BUYER DARLING MOORE FOR SHARING HER PHOTO OF HER BEAUTIFUL LITTLE PENNY IN HER NEW DRESS! DARLING MADE A DESIGNER DECISION TO GO WITH ONE RUFFLE INSTEAD OF TWO AND CHECK OUT THAT BOW ... FABULOUS!!
In stockinette stitch, 4 stitches = 1 inch

I am certified as a Level 1 Master Hand Knitter by The Knitting Guild Association. My grandmother Lena taught me to knit when I was 4 years old and told me that a lifetime of knitting pleasure was her legacy to me. I love to design and knit and enter my work in competitions. I've won numerous awards and ribbons over the years and that's a lot of fun, but the greatest pleasure is the actual creative process. I specialize in Beginner and Intermediate level designs that teach new skills and promote excitement for the art that is Knitting. I think new knitters should have the opportunity to work with a well-written design that reinforces their current skills, teaches them new skills and gets a "WOW, you made that?!!?" response when showing off their completed project.
