Pattern Description:
Cats and other pets love to be cozy - treat your favorite pet to this easy-to-make knitted felt bowl.
Only basic knitting is required and you'll learn how to increase and decrease if you don't already know how to. Don't worry, there are complete easy-to-read instructions and full-color photos.
My patterns use few, if any, abbreviations. Stitch counts are given row-by-row. You'll also learn how to do a nifty twisted edge - it's easy!
There are complete instructions on how to felt your knit item the easy way - in the washing machine and needle felting instructions for the tear drop embellishment shown.
There are 2 versions given. They are both knitted the same way, the only difference is yarn choice and embellishment. The striped bowl uses up all those odd bits of yarn from other projects - just start and stop the stripes randomly - so easy! The embellished bowl uses 2 colors - a contrast color for the rim and a main color for the bowl. After felting, it's embellished with basic needle felting for a fun accent!
This bowl also makes a great storage container for your yarn stash!
Gauge:
about 7 stitches = 2 inches Gauge is not critical for this item.
Sizing / Finished Measurements:
- Approximately 9" tall and 15" in diameter after felting
Materials:
- Approximately 900 yards of medium weight wool that will felt
- US size 11 circular needles 16" and 24"
- US size 11 double pointed needles, set of 5
- Of that 900 yards, 100 yards in a contrast color, 800 yards in a main color or the equivalent in assorted colors for stripes
You Will Also Need:
- Row counter
- Large eye needle to weave in ends
- stitch markers - 8 total, one in a different color
- For needle felted version, small amounts of wool roving/yarn, needle felting needles and foam pad

I can add sewing to the favorites list again after taking the "Couture Dress" class on Craftsy - I hadn't sewn for myself in a long time because fitting and the way patterns are done frustrated me to no end - the class gave me a whole new way to approach sewing and I'm enjoying it again.
