Basic Skills Necessary:

  • Cast on, knit, purl, k2tog, yo
  • Kitchener (or 3-needle bind off) Stitch
  • Mattress stitch for sewing ruffle to body

Pattern Description:

An elegant baby blanket (or "shawl," as they call it in England) which has the drape and appearance of an antique. Lovely for any special occasion - yet when using superwash yarn, will be easy to care for.

Use ivory yarn and ribbon for a classic heirloom, or white yarn with a pink or blue ribbon for something fresher!

  • US size 5 needles (14" straight, or a 24" circular)
  • Approx. 1400 yds of fingering wt (4-ply) yarn
  • Needle protector tip
  • Tapestry needle

You Will Also Need:

  • Optional: Approx 3 yds of 1/4" satin ribbon
  • Fray-Chek (tm) or other anti-fraying liquid for the ribbon
