(6) Name: 'Knitting : Conkers

Basic Skills Necessary:

  • Knitting

Pattern Description:

Collecting conkers is one of the things I love about autumn. I think most Brits know about conkers, and the game played with them, but if you don't know what they are please have a look at the posts on my blog. I think in the States conkers are called buckeyes.

This is just a fun little knit. It is easy, and is knitted on two needles, and takes a very small amount of wool. The pattern contains instructions on how to knit the conker, and its distinctive shell.

There is a companion pattern for a horse chestnut leaf. I am going to use my leaves to decorate a bag, with a conker drawstring, for my little conker collectors

Sizing / Finished Measurements:

  • Finished conker is approx 5cm across

  • 4ply wool - brown and tan/cream
  • Knitting Needles 2.75mm
  • Wadding
