Basic Skills Necessary:

  • knitting in the round
  • the use of double point needles

Pattern Description:

A knit and felt beehive skep in two sizes.

In the olden days, beehive skeps were baskets made of grass or straw. They were used for housing a colony of bees as they produced their honeycomb. Knit and felt a whimsical 3.5 or 5-inch beehive as a tribute to the hardest worker out there -- the honey bee!

Sizing / Finished Measurements:

  • about 3.5 to 5-inches tall after felting


  • skein of worsted weight 100% wool yarn, GOLD
  • 16-inch circular needle, size 10.5
  • double point needles, size 10.5

You Will Also Need:

  • plastic polypellets, for base
