Such a fun little bowl to knit! I came up with the pattern when I was teaching a class on colorwork knitting from our handspun. It's such a beautiful way to used two ply yarns spun from handpainted top. I spun the yarn from fibers my friends had dyed, which makes it even more special. You could easily make it bigger or smaller by changing the cast on number by a multiple of 5. Changing yarn weight and needle size will make it smaller or larger accordingly. Knit it on a smaller needle than usually recommended for the yarn you have chosen so the bowl will stand up on its own.
Approx 5 1/2 sts per inch on US 3 needles. You want a dense fabric so that the bowl stands up on its own.
When I was 5, I saw a wall of wool, colors arranged in spectral order and it was all over. Mom taught me to knit soon thereafter. Both my parents were artists so they taught me all I could hold. When it comes to yarn in any form I simply cannot resist. Since then I've shown my knitted wearable art, written two books on knitting/spinnig and teach spinning on the national level.
