Pattern Description:

Big Mac, Big Apple - now there's the BIG TEA BAG!

And of course, it's a tea cosy.

Make this for a quirky present. Make up a silly brand name and give it a tag (just in case anyone misses the point).
Have fun!

Easy to make in 2 pieces: a square of simple reverse stocking stitch knitting in doubled yarn, then a ribbed border edge using a circular needle or a set of 5 dpns. Would be a good starter for practicing knitting in the round.

Uses 8 ply/DK yarn of your choice.

Gauge:

17.5 sts, 25 rows to 10 cm in stocking st on 4.5 mm (US 7) needles, using doubled 8 ply/DK yarn

Sizing / Finished Measurements:

  • To fit medium teapot; 45 cms circumference, 15 cms tall

Materials:

  • 8 ply/DK yarn: mid brown or mottled brown x 50 gms, cream or white x 25 gms, small amounts for tag - ? yellow, blue, black, red
  • 1 pair 4.5 (US 7) mm needles
  • 5 x 3.5 mm (US 4) double-pointed needles OR a 3.5 mm (US 4) circular needle plus 4 stitch markers
