Basic Skills Necessary:

  • knit, purl, colorwork stranding, inc, dec

Pattern Description:

This 4-cup tea cozy uses a variegated yarn, with short color lengths, giving a stained glass effect.

Using only 2 yarns also eliminates the need to break and rejoin colors, making the knitting less easier for a knitter who is new to stranding.

This revised pattern has spout and handle openings for a cozy that can remain on the teapot, whilst pouring. The original unspouted pattern is also included - your choice!

These tea cozies are knit in Kraemer Yarns Naturally Nazareth, a soft, domestically-produced, aran weight wool yarn of reasonable cost. One skein each of the two colors will make both tea cozies. The spouted samples are lightly fulled - see Finishing, in the pattern.

Gauge:

20 sts and 22 rows = 4" (10 cm) over stranded patt with size 7-8 (4.5-5mm) ndls or size to give gauge.

Sizing / Finished Measurements:

  • Circumference: 20"
  • Height : 8.75"

Materials:

  • Kraemer Yarns Naturally Nazareth, 100% Domestic wool, approx 184 yd / 100 gram skein: 1 skein each of #Y1308 Hayride (A) and Y1302 Autumn (B). (One skein of each will make both versions.)
  • 16" US size 7-8 (4.5-5 mm) ckn - both versions
  • US size 7-8 dpns - both versions
  • 20-29" US size 7-8 ckn - spouted version only
