Blanket/Bedspread

Basic Skills Necessary:

  • intarsia knitting
  • knitting in the round
  • lace knitting

Pattern Description:

The original of this blanket was knit many years ago for a friend; she had a "thing" for cows, so I did a Holstein in the middle of the field. Because I"m SUCH a knitting/wool fanatic, I decided to remake this pattern with a large, fluffy sheep.

Cute, huh?

The blanket is started with the intarsia-knitted center. Sts are then picked up all round, joined and knit in the round until the final lace (picket-fence) ! This is a great, multi-technique design which is not only a fun exercise but also a unique throw or baby blanket.

Directions are included for an optional fabric backing to cover (and protect) the intarsia panel.

Directions for the intarsia portion are charted; the directions for the lace sections are charted and written.

Gauge:

17.5 sts x 24rws = 4" over stockinette

  • 44" x 34"

  • 375 yards of DK superwash merino in green
  • 490 yards of DK superwash merino in natural
