This newborn baby blanket is soft and light weight and still warm and cuddly. The ribbed pattern gives the illusion or diagonal stripes and the cables up each side give this blanket just a bit of fun.
For this pattern, you will need to know the knit stitch and purl stitch.
The pattern consists of 8 repeating rows and it is recommended that you keep track of each row by using a row counter.
Sizing can be altered by using different weight yarn and changing the size of the knitting needles. Following the pattern below will create a blanket that measures approximately 31 inches wide and 31 inches high.
Two strands of light weight worsted yarn are held together throughout pattern.
I used Bernat Softee Baby brand - one stand of each solid baby blue and baby denim marl. I bought 2 skeins of each (4 total) which was enough for this blanket plus a hat and bib.

I've been knitting all my life and currently spend most of my waking hours thinking about new ways to knit classic accessories. I love to spin my own yarn, learn new knitting techniques and get creative with felted wool.
