I have been knitting since I was about 8 years old. My mother taught me to knit and my parents encouraged me to explore all kinds of arts & crafts activities by providing me with the materials that I needed to create.
As a girl, I loved to sew (I spent hours using my mother’s sewing machine making clothes for my dolls), knit, draw and paint. In high school I spent all my extra time at school hanging out in the art room. In college I worked at a cute little yarn store and I still have some yarn in my stash that I bought at that store…way too many years ago!
I love giving hand knit gifts to my friends and family. In these days of mass produced gifts (that often require a plug-in cord or battery) it is nice to give something that is truly one-of-a-kind. I love to see the smile on their faces when they open the gift I made for them.
I enjoy knitting (of course!), teaching my daughter to sew, going to my son’s sporting events, baking, making jam in the summer, making homemade gingerbread houses in December, and going to the beach.
I hope that you enjoy using my patterns to create special heirloom quality items for your home, friends & family.
This darling mini sweater ornament is knit in the round from the top down. In one or two evenings you will have a special keepsake ornament for your tree....or a memorable gift. This handmade ornament makes a great gift for your aunt, cousins, neighbors, special teacher, or your dear friends.
Choose yarn colors and one of five duplicate stitch designs to suit the recipient.
If you know how to knit, purl, increase & decrease stitches, and knit in the round, you can make this keepsake ornament. If you are a beginning knitter who has had success and is ready for a challenge this would be a good pattern to try because you won't invest a lot in yarn or time. (It might help you decide if you are ready to tackle a full size sweater!)
This pattern includes FIVE charts for the heart, joy, tree, sailboat and "ho ho" designs to customize the front of your mini-sweater. If you have never done duplicate stitch before (this is how you add a design after the basic knitting is completed), the pattern includes detailed step-by-step instructions...with lots of photos!
BONUS - HOW TO MAKE WIRE HANGER INSTRUCTIONS: Make a cute little wire hanger to use to hang the mini sweater on the tree! The pattern includes a detailed one-page instruction sheet with 16 photos to walk you through how to make a wire hanger. You will need wire and three tools: needle nose pliers, round nose pliers and wire cutters.
