Pattern Description:

The original Little Ellie Blanket was made as a welcome to our world gift for my friend Carle's baby boy. Warm and soft, it is perfect for a new baby or even a toddler. Knit in linen stitch with a moss stitch border, the blanket is an easy knit. The applique elephant is also easy to do and the freestyle tree is a little more challenging. I used ColourSpun Pure Cotton Chunky yarn (about 85m per 100g) but it works just as well in wool.

Since this is not something that needs to fit, gauge is not too important, you need a soft but not loose fabric.

  • ColourSpun Pure Cotton Chunky Yarn - 10 x 100g
  • Scrap of Black Yarn
  • Brown and grey quilting or embroidery thread
  • 10mm knitting needles
  • 8mm knitting needles
  • wool/tapestry needle
  • small scissors
  • safety pins

Suggested yarn:

900 meters of Chunky weight

Preferred Brand/Yarn:

ColourSpun Pure Cotton Chunky
