  • for beaded version (optional): long tail cast on, stringing beads

Pattern Description:

This ornate cross is knitted as a wide lace strip and then shaped using an interesting seamless construction.

Instructions are provided for making with or without beads.

The Lace Cross can be used as a bookmark, communion or Easter gift, mounted and framed, or a thoughtful Christian token of friendship.

Stitch Instructions: Written
Construction: Knitted flat and formed into a cross as stitches are bound off
Special Techniques included:
. Beaded cast on
. Center double decrease bind off


5 1?2 stitches per inch over garter stitch blocked (gauge is not critical although it could affect size and amount of yarn used)

Sizing / Finished Measurements:

  • 10" by 6 1?2"


  • Yarn 26 yards fingering weight (30 yards for beaded version)
  • Knitting Needles Size US 2 (2.75 mm) suggested; even though this is knitted flat, you will probably want to use at least a 24" circular needle because of the large number of stitches in the wide strip
  • For Beaded Version (optional) 160 size 8/0 (3 mm diameter) beads, approximately 4 g
