Basic Skills Necessary:

  • Knit
  • Purl
  • Weaving colors across the back (if you want a 2nd color)

Pattern Description:

I had some orange yarn lying around, and I wanted to get back into knitting, but not something common like a sweater or scarf...so I made my first knitted picture from a photo of my dog.

I created this pattern based on my own natural knitting style, which is 3 stitches by 5 rows=square. It is a graph pattern, using 10x10 sets of different colored "V"s.

3 stitches by 5 rows = square

Sizing / Finished Measurements:

  • Mine came out to 2 ft by 2 ft; you can make it any size you want
  • 120 stitches wide

  • Knitting needles
  • For a lap blanket with ~4mm needles, about 16 oz 4ply yarn; otherwise, as much yarn as it takes to make it the size you want
  • A second color is an option
