Honu is the Hawaiian word for sea turtle. Sea turtles play an important role in Hawaiian culture and are seen as protectors, but, sadly, it is now the sea turtles that need protecting. Today, the sea turtles are encountering numerous threats and facing extinction.

This is the first pattern in my "Dreams of Maui" collection, which, as the name suggests, features patterns inspired by my recent trip to Maui.
